Current observations on children in Madagascar

The Great Island of Madagascar will soon have 10 million children under 18, out of a population of 20 million.

160 of them die every day from diseases that could be avoided, either through vaccination or better hygiene or preventive measures.

One out of four children is not registered at birth… therefore, it does not exist in government registers, but it is right there, with demands that cannot be met by its family who is too wretchedly poor…

1 million of these children still do not go to school. They beg in the streets, or work…

Out of 100 children who start primary school, only 30 get to the end.

Another terrifying statistic teaches us that a quarter of children under 15 work in various forms, and in unspeakable conditions…

The laws of nature in this Island don’t help, in the countryside and on the coasts, educational infrastructure is often damaged or even completely destroyed by seasonal cyclones.

Despite the efforts made and international aid, the situation still remains very much a cause for concern. That is why the Enfants de la Rue International Chain of Solidarity is planning to open the « Zazagasy » Center as soon as possible.

Sponsoring a child ...
Sponsors pay 55 Euros per year. Volunteers of the chain on location allocate to the children’s parents or guardians a monthly sum to pay their school fees.

Volunteers also monitor the children’s school attendance through strict verification of School Attendance Cards.
Cards are stamped every term by the management of schools.
On the first day of the school year, control is conducted by people in charge, based on the registration certificate issued by the school, which is also verified for authenticity.

In addition, all the children are registered at OSTIE (medicare), so their health is monitored

Our ZAZAGASY Remedial Center has for objective to hold out the hand to the needy children.

By communicating with them gentillement and with love the envy to go out of their poverty by the knowledge of the instruction.

Our purpose is to give them the keys of the success towards a better future by educating them correctly.
